1) Are evening appointments available?

Yes, the counselors at Hope for Today offer various appointment times including appointments available in the evenings. Most clients are seen as soon as the next day and usually within a few days.

2) Do I have to attend one of the programs in order to receive counseling at Hope for Today?

No, Hope for Today offers individual, marital, couple’s, and family counseling apart from the program services.

3) Do the counselors at Hope for Today only work with teens and their families?

No, Hope for Today is a full-service counseling center. Our clinicians are Master’s Level Licensed Professional Counselors.

4) What if I think my teen needs to come to counseling but he or she refuses?

When this situation occurs, the counselors at Hope for Today recommend that the parents begin counseling. This allows the parents to develop strategies and boundaries in order to better help their adolescent.

5) What if I cannot afford counseling?

Hope for Today accepts fees based on a sliding scale. We also accept Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, and UTEAP.

6) What can the counselors at Hope for Today help with?

The counselors offer help with depression, anxiety, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, behavioral problems, drop in grades, bullying, sex and love addiction, relationship issues, obesity, overeating, eating disorders, divorce, arguing within the family, trauma past or present, parenting, marriage problems, alcoholism, addiction of various types, personal growth and development, career counseling and others.

7) What therapy groups are offered at Hope for Today?

Group Counseling is offered for adolescents and young adults with varying degrees of need, as well as for adult Men and Women. These are process groups and can provide guidance on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, family or marital issues, parenting, and others. Groups provide support from licensed counselors as well as from peers.

8) Where is Hope for Today located?

The office is located in the Corporate Park West Business Park at North Fry Road and Park Row. Counselors provide help to individuals and families in Katy, Houston, Cypress, Sugar Land, Fort Bend County, and Spring Branch.

9) Do the counselors offer free assessments?

Yes, for those interested in the program services, the counselors at Hope for Today offer free assessments. There are also free support group meetings for teens, young adults, and parents on Thursdays at 7:00 PM.

10) What services are offered for parents?

The counseling center offers family counseling as well as counseling to help with parenting. There are Support Group Meetings Thursdays at 7:00 PM. On the third Thursday of each month, the counselors offer a Family Education Meeting which provides education on teen alcohol and drug use, behavioral issues, and other issues. The goal is to guide the family towards healthier communication and better boundaries.

11) What if I have marital problems but my spouse refuses to come to counseling?

The counselors at Hope for Today recommend that the individual that is willing to come to counseling schedules an appointment.

12) How do I make an appointment?

Contact the office manager at 281-578-0505 or miro@hftcounseling.com Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A staff member will be available until 7:00 PM on Thursdays as well.

13) What kind of drugs are teens abusing currently?

Teens are using marijuana, alcohol, over-the Counter medications such as cough syrups and items containing DXM, prescription medication including pain pills and Xanax, synthetic drugs such as serenity, bath salts, and z-bars, cocaine, methamphetamines, and others.

14) What do I do if I think my teen has a problem?

Schedule a counseling appointment and/or free assessment with the therapists at Hope for Today as soon as possible.

15) Is Hope for Today an Alternative Peer Group (APG)?

Hope for Today has taken the positive aspects of APGs, such as positive peer support, weekend and after school activities, and support group meetings for teens and parents, and combined them with professional counseling for teens, young adults, and families provided by Master’s Level Licensed Professional Counselors.
